Ministry In Numbers we read about a stranger it said the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death. The Ephesians were strangers at one time. The verse in Ephesians is the answer to the question in numbers.

Reading Meeting
John 6:60-71
Jesus had been teaching in a synagogue this entire time. The people couldn’t seem to enter in to what He was saying, but there are so many precious truths here. He let them know that the One who came down to manifest God on earth was returning to glory to manifest man there. He took on the likeness of man and accomplished what He talked about here so man could be in heaven.
Darby puts verse sixty-three as, “It is the Spirit which quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life”. The Spirit of God quickens. It is the work of the Spirit and not the flesh. It gives life; it’s nothing we do ourselves.
From all the murmuring it seems they were offended by what He said. The Lord could go anywhere and know what was happening in people’s hearts. He knew from the beginning that there was an enemy in the crowd, and it wasn’t Satan this time.
We can’t come unless the Father draws us. The Spirit gives the understanding of what they were murmuring about. It’s sad that many of them left when they were offended by His words. They were probably following Him for the wrong reasons in the first place.
“Disciples” in verse sixty-one is a broader audience then the twelve mentioned in verse sixty-seven. Jesus had just given such precious truth, and so many walked away from it that He asked the twelve if they would do the same. Peter answers, “To whom shall we go?“. There it no other religion that can say that they trust in the One who died to save them.
“Whom have we Lord, but Thee Soul-thirst to satisfy”
Peter also says that they knew He was the Son of the living God. We can also rejoice in the Son of the living God.
Jesus was the only One who could give understanding to everything He said.
They may not have understood everything, but Jesus’ words were spirit and life (v. 63).
