Being a missionary is a hard job. Sometimes missionaries get kill for spreading the gospel. Missionaries in the Bible didn’t have a Bible to preach from. They might’ve had parts of the Old Testament though.

Acts 14:1-16

Paul and Barnabas have now traveled to Iconium. They don’t just preach to the Jews now. They preached to both Jews and Gentiles. They started by teaching in the Synagogue. Many of the people there believed but the Jews worked their havoc. When things started to get crazy Paul didn’t just pack up his bags and go home. No, like the chapter before, he just got bolder.

Could you imagine trying to teach the gospel without the New Testament? Even if they didn’t have the Bible they had something that we don’t have. They had signs, wonders and miracles. I always thought that maybe if I could use signs and wonder during a Gospel message it would be convincing.

Well, one time when they were preaching the multitude got divided and it became really violent. So they had to move on to a new city, Lyconia. Next week we hear about what happened at Lyconia.
