Ephesians 1:1 to 23 As we have been reminded, the rending of the veil, when Jesus expired, was not to let an angry God out to deal with sinful men. Rather it was to allow redeemed people to draw near to God and enjoy spiritual blessings in communion with the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us look at some of these blessings identified with the pronoun
“his” in this chapter. • The good pleasure of his will (V. 5) • The glory of his grace (V. 6) • Redemption through his blood (V. 7) • The riches of his grace (V. 7) • The mystery of his will (V. 9) • His good pleasure (V. 9) • The counsel of his own will (V. 11) • The praise of his glory (V. 12) • The praise of his glory (V. 14) • The hope of his calling (V. 18) • His inheritance in the saints (V. 18) • The exceeding greatness of his power (V. 19) • Works of his mighty power (V. 19) • His own right hand (V. 20) • All things under his feet (V. 22) • The church, which is his body (V. 23)
We have been tracing the Scriptures that tell us about that special
cloud of God’s presence that came to the children of Israel after they were redeemed out of Egypt. Let us look at the next Scripture that tells us about this cloud. It is the last chapter of the book of Exodus – chapter 40. Some of the children read verses 1 to 8 as God told Moses to set up the tabernacle and install the furniture that they had made according to God’s instructions to Moses. Then they read verses 17 to 33. Seven times in these verses we find that the children of Israel set up and installed everything “as the Lord commanded Moses.” Now that the tabernacle and the furniture has all been made and arranged according to God’s Word we read, “THEN a cloud covered the tent…” (V. 34). God took up residence in the tabernacle in the midst of His redeemed people.
