Can we look at the last verse of Mark 7; we’ll start at v. 35 just to get
the context. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his
tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. And he charged them that they should
tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal
they published it; and were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done
all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
“He hath done all things well”; so were the words of our hymn and the words
of scripture. There are a lot of people who can do a few things well, and
there are a few people who can do a lot of things well. Here is One of whom
it can be written, “He hath done all things well.” We can think of how
those standing by beheld glories from Heaven. We know the glories of the
Lord are 3-fold:
Moral glories
Official glories
Personal glories
Moral glories are what we see in the Gospels, what we grasp, His manhood.
What glories radiate in spite of the treatment. How precious to study these
glories; how sweet. We see One who does all things well, from the manger to
the cross. It is precious to follow a pathway in which all things are well.
Moral glories touch our hearts and let us know His gentleness, meekness,
love, etc.
Yet we think of those official glories, those which will be made known when
he reigns. The wonder is that we will share these glories. He has a portion
for us in all that beauty.
His personal glories we can’t comprehend. God knows them, He basks in them.
How precious to come together to offer praise, though mean the tribute. But
Oh, the day when we will sing, “He hath done all things well!” Some of
those things we will enter into in a full and wondrous way.

Hebrews 4:1-18
• There are many words in Hebrews that are interesting to look at:
1. Let us – occurs 13x in Hebrews
2. Lest – occurs 11x
• See “Seven Safeguards for Saints” and “Exhortations in Hebrews”.
• Outline of Hebrews 4:
Vv. 1-10 – rest
Vv. 11-16 – resources
-Word of God
-High Priest
-Throne of Grace
• Different rests:
God’s rest; future – Zephaniah 3:17
Rest of conscience; present – Matthew 11:28
Rest of circumstances; present – Matthew 11:29, if we
take His yoke of obedience, we will find rest.
• Israel had rest in Canaan. To get that rest took faith; faith that only
Joshua and Caleb had. Faith is the ability to believe the naturally
unbelievable. It is the way to receive much blessing. God doesn’t give us
something that we can intellectually grasp; it is naturally unbelievable.
God blesses us with something that human intelligence can’t comprehend.
• V. 1 – If we are really saved, we will enter into that rest. There is no
doubt about it. V. 11 makes it sound like there is work to do to get it.
That’s not it. We must labour to get into all the spiritual blessings.
• Man is a restless creature; the world goes so fast, trying to satisfy
Him. The heart of natural man is like a “black hole” in the universe,
swallowing everything up and never satisfied.
